Football DataCo has chosen Infuzer technology from Internet services company on board info to deliver next season's Premiership and Football League fixtures into electronic calendars. Infuzer is a one-click service that will enable football fans to download the complete fixture list for their chosen team(s) to their electronic calendar from any participating website or email newsletter. Users will pay a small fee for the service and will receive an alert when game times change, updating their calendar accordingly and ensuring they don't miss out on the match. As soon as the game ends, the score will also be added to the fan's calendar. The service will utilise fixtures and result data supplied by The Press Association, the official distributor of English Football fixtures and data for Football Data Co.
David Folker, General Manager of Football DataCo, commented "Given the time-sensitive nature of football fixtures we were looking for a way of delivering this information into the rapidly growing population of electronic calendars. Accurate, up to date information about fixtures is essential for fans and Infuzer is the best way of providing this in an electronic context. It saves fans the time and effort of manually entering the information into their calendar and prevents them potentially missing a match when it is rescheduled."
Ray Eitel-Porter, CEO of on board info, added: "We see this as a win-win proposition for all concerned - fans will receive a better service and websites which offer the service will receive a share of the revenue plus the ability to include their own URLs in the calendar entries. This in turn will drive traffic back to their own site for match reports and information. The decision to charge the end-user is based on the fundamental need for web businesses to find a sustainable business model and the success of our paid calendar weather service, which has demonstrated that people are willing to pay for the convenience of quality information delivered to them automatically in the appropriate context."
